Reel Gay
Preserving LGBTQ+ History Through Film
Over 25 years of irreplaceable LGBTQ media history, available for education, preservation, and inspiration.
Our Mission
Reel Gay, Inc. has an extensive library of over 25 years of LGBTQ media history, including pride events, media events, political rallies, marches, red carpets in Hollywood, sporting competitions, and live music performances.
We are making this footage available to other organizations at a low (or gratis) rate for educational purposes, historical preservation, inspirational opportunities, entertainment reasons, and for filmmakers, specifically LGBTQ producers and directors.
This footage, taken at events throughout the last three decades, and across the globe, chronicles the growth in the LGBTQ community and is an invaluable resource in the continued positive evolution of equality in our community and all over the world.

When we launched this project back in 1994, it was rare for LGBT bars and clubs to have a television set in their establishment, much less a VCR to play video. Little did we know that we would grow into a television company with more than 50 employees over the years, many of whom with LAPD press credentials, and 1000 outlets world-wide exhibiting our programming to a community starving for recognition, visibility and legitimacy. In the process, we amassed over 20,000 hours of rare footage of everything remotely gay and lesbian, including major celebrities; political figures; pride events; parades; international sporting competitions; unbelievable talent, and real, everyday people, living extraordinary lives.
